I understand that potential security or ethical issues of a computer system may not be obvious when the intended application is generally unproblematic.
However, when you specifically list medical, legal, and defense as application domains of your system, storing data locally rather than in the cloud is certainly a good idea, but you should think a bit harder about it.
In particular when it involves AI.

Another project proposal reviewed, another four hours of community service for a foreign funding agency, and, unfortunately, another bad proposal.
It’s frustrating having to recommend projects to be rejected, but hopefully the funder can use the money to support better projects.
