A cruelty of aging is that no activity is safe. I somehow injured my groin/hip last night… getting up out of a chair!?! I don’t even know how. Any leg motion in an arcing fashion, that is to say not directly forward, caused such pain that I was reduced to hobbling about. I despaired that my return to #running was over just as I’d begun to think a normalcy was settling in.
This morning, I woke…
I'm walking down the hill and he's running up in the Danby State Forest -- reduced schedule today because I just came back from Friday Night Football

Pleasant conditions out: sunny and windy, cool but not cold. So I ducked out of the office for an afternoon runabout on the greenway.
Followed it up with a walkabout while talking to my sister on the phone.

Last night's run: a decent one, but my night vision is not what it used to be, so a little slower than I would like.
Looking like outdoor #running tomorrow and Friday too with great weather. Today was a treadmill day, though, partially because that's all I had time for.
We shall see how long I can go with outdoor running this winter.
A few snaps from last week’s trip to Forrest, VIC, in the Otway ranges. Taken on a morning run. #running #straya
Not exactly “racing” the darkness, but perhaps more “pursued” by way of anguished plodding.
They’re doing construction on the school track I like to run on after dark, so now I have to be more intentional about when and where I run. 🏃♂️ 🌙

My goal always was to run 500 km in one year. Today I made it for the first time 🥳
I built some visualisations in #rstats to keep me motivated throughout the year, of course!

It's 25 degrees (F) higher than normal today, so I got in a run. I keep thinking that'll be it; it will get cold, and I'll be #running inside most of the time. But then this happens 😆

Good Morning #ISWC2025! Best way to start a conference day with a morning run in the park!

Restarting #Running, take 37 🎬
Busyness and niggling knee pain derailed me from my last efforts. Then inertia set in and everything becomes harder.
But, here we start anew. One foot in front of the other.
#Brooks caldera 7 are the best #running shoes I’ve ever owned. They’re super grippy but also well cushioned enabling me to fly around our boggy #parkrun course in complete confidence.
Incredibly, I’m not e…
I just ran almost 10.5 miles without much planning or systematic preparation. Conditions were perfect, so I took advantage.
It was fantastic! I haven't enjoyed a run this much in quite some time.
I may regret it tomorrow, but I feel great now.

I'm still figuring out beta-blockers. And yes, they still suck when running. I don't think I'll be able to escape that.
I have been on the treads more lately; my tolerance for cold weather has been pretty bad. Getting older, post covid crud, who knows 🤷♂️
Grateful to be able to run and enjoy this weather today.

TIL that there is an app for Garmin watches that will display your Parkrun barcode. Since I have forgotten my barcode at least a couple of times in the past (and I don't normally bring my phone on runs), this could come in handy.
Have yet to try it, but reviews are positive.

Dang, it's cold (-18 C overnight low for all you metric peeps). No #running outside lately. I intend to run on an indoor track during the week this week.
My hip pain, what I’m pretty sure was bursitis, disappeared after several days of rest. 🙌 I waited another couple of days and felt pretty good about trying it out.
So, we begin again. Again.
Stopped at the halfway point to take a few pictures and let my HR come down a bit. Felt good early and sluggish late. What I expect, for a while anyway.

End of the week run on Friday, sub-9 pace—I'll take it.
I had some discouragement from my run earlier in the week. I ran after the flu shot, and it was a huge mistake (I had to walk, and some other things I'd rather not talk about). Alas, this was a great way to end the week!

Yesterday's run. The weather was great, my legs felt good, but I wasn't in the mood to run, and my lungs were not thrilled about it. Not a bad pace, considering! VO2 max is going up a little; it's been low for a few months now (low for me is good, not great 😄).

Yesterday's outdoor run. Today will be inside on the treadmill. Cooler temps, and I'm loving that. This run was windy and rainy, though, but I'm a glutton for punishment; I have not run at all for a few days.
I know I deserve a break after the half marathon, and I did in fact do that.
Some excellent fall colors are still hangin' on 🙀
