"His proposal would require quarterly audits of the Salt Lake City Police Department and annual audits of any government agency that requests the data. Any misuse is punishable in Utah with criminal charges.
"'So, if you're a police officer and you're thinking about misusing it, that's a big deal,' Puy said. 'You know that could change your career or destroy it completely.'"
Hey, #SaltLake! Let's support this.

Not only is this a huge violation of our privacy rights (as the article suggests), it's also a huge waste of money.
We know where the majority of crimes in #SaltLake and #Utah are happening, and they are not occurring on the streets.
#LDS wards, Facebook sites, and neighborhoods, neighbors are defrauding neighbors. License plate readers and drones won't help that. Depending on where they're being purchased from, this might just be another scam: buying overpriced equipment from a friend with government money. It happens all the time in Utah's government, and auditors are unlikely to catch it without a tip off.
Heck, look at this article about former Representative Trevor Lee. It lists several people who quit public office after arrest. There are many more who didn't.

In #Utah, physical/emotional/sexual abuse is killing our kids.
#utpol thinks that same abuse is ideal for treating homeless and/or people struggling with addiction. They believe it so much, they're throwing money at it.
