Well, it's about time I got started on my latest self-hosted project: Home Assistant. Luckily, I've had an RPi 4 for a while now, so I'm saving myself the money these gadgets cost these days.
First stop: automating the lighting system.
Next stop: smart irrigation system.
Here I go!

My TrueNAS computer (HP Z420) is beeping non-stop. The TrueNAS interface doesn’t show anything wrong, I’ve rebooted and it’s still beeping. (Maybe I should try a shutdown?)
I don’t know enough about PC hardware to know what’s going on…

I just set up a hardware watchdog on YunoHost to monitor my connectivity using the watchdog systemd service. If I can't ping 8.8.8.8 for 30 minutes, it'll trigger a reboot.
I've been having issues where my RPi4 server suddenly lost the internet connection... I disabled EEE, which hopefully fixed that, but having some extra security like this probably won't hurt.

@joe@f.duriansoftware.com Not sure if I fully understand your question, but you can configure macOS to have some domains be resolved by a specific DNS server using the /etc/resolver/ directory. For instance, if you create a file /etc/resolver/abc.xyz containing “nameserver a.b.c.d”, macOS will resolve *.abc.xzy using a.b.c.d instead of the default DNS server. See man 5 resolver for details.

I ended up getting Vikunja installed locally and it will probably take the place of Planka, which has some weird proxy issue I can’t easily work around. Vikunja also has more features, some of which Planka was specifically lacking.
