I couldn't decide what to do today and where to go. I got up too late for a longer hike due to the heat. In the end I just got on my bike and followed the road and pushed myself for some training effect.
It was a really enjoyable ride except for the last 10km where the heat got really annoying.

Great Horned Owl

Aowyn, a #rescue Swainsons Hawk

Photo of a Swainsons hawk spreading its wings, perched on a handler’s glove. Injured by a vehicle while munching on carrion on a road in Colorado, its left wing was broken. Despite rehab efforts by the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, the bird, named Aowyn, is unable to fend for itself in the wild. She’s about 12-14 years old, and is an ambassador for the program in their fundraising outreach efforts.

Panoramic photo in Rocky Mountain National Park. Hiking along the Ute Trail, looking East thru the gap at Longs Peak at the left and the rest of the Front Range extending to the right. Sunrise is just a few minutes ago but in November that’s not so early. Clear blue sky above with pale haze over the plains to the East. So quiet, at around 10-11,000 ft, 3000-3500m, and no wind, fortunately. November 2013.
