Trophime Bigot’s “Angel Watching Over the Dead Christ" is a very dark scene lit by a candle's flame. An angel on the left side points down at Jesus, who is dead. There are small drops of blood across his forehead from his crown of thorns, and his arms are folded across his torso, where he has another injury.
