Maybe Gene, but then #StarTrek essentially idealises a militaristic society with a particular fondness for staffing their heavily armed battleships with zealous captains that love wandering into the arenas of other societies to explain why their cultural values are the best.
I like Star Trek for the cool technology, which has inspired plenty of people to work e.g. on "the Star Trek computer". I love Star Trek for the utopian society of plenty they sketch in the 23rd and 24th century.
I claim it is because of the laziness of the writing: they don't keep that utopia up.
The Doctor with a mint julip. This S1:EP25 "This Side of Paradise" is great. We get to see Spock in love. Watch Kirk call him all sorts of nasty names and get beat up by Spock, and the Doctor gets... a drawl. 😂
Spock "For the first time in my life, I was happy" 😢
What a fun episode!
I love this.
