So I did postpone watching the last two episodes of season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds almost 5 months ago. Something about the premise of the penultimate episode, "Terrarium", felt too derivative, and I forgot about the series. Now that I watched both episodes, I have to say, "New Life and New Civilizations" hit all the right notes on the theremin. SNW is indulging and beautifully crafted Trek.

Bella Shepard really had lead actress energy.

I don't care what other people say
Just binged on all 3 of the first episodes and loved them! I had my doubts, but they were all photon torpedoed into loving the show.
Yeah, it’s about kids. But as they said, “It's a school”.
The show brings the core ideals and philosophy of Star Trek and makes them into excellent teachable moments.
Looking forward to the cast gelling as it always takes time for a new Star Trek to get its footing. But it’s pretty solid already. Love what Holly Hunter is doing with the chancellor/captain. Gina Yashere is totally amazing and can feel her joy in the roll in every scene she's in. And Tig Notaro is totally fabulously funny in a so dry sort of way. Also being partners with Gina's character is just perfect in being so unperfect.

Caleb was introduced as a character so fast he make little sense. A different person from one scene to the next. 😭

Starfleet Academy
PILOT DONE! There are some great characters you almost get to meet between what must be super important plot points that are super important.
I hope this show finds time to let those characters breath. I don't expect Kurtzman to let anyone breath ever as he continue to shout "JJ ABRAMS PLEASE LOVE ME".

Wow. Ep 5 of Starfleet Academy is by far my favorite. Should I be shocked it was the first with Tawny Newsome on the written by?
The characters feel more grounded. Dialog is funny, revealing, and urgent. SAM is not my fav character but this is the first time a focus on a single character works for me.
This ep seems to have twice as much character development as other episodes.
