Saw a #rainbow after a #sunset storm. After I looked at it a few minutes, I realized it had filled in all the way across. A small crowd formed, outside the grocery store, taking pictures and ooh-ing.

Weird sunset vibes although sun still has almost two hours to go, but dark clouds and haze make for some strong contrasts.
Also a nice symmetry between the sun and it's reflection on the water, plus the clouds and dark ground.

Friday's Bochum (Germany) #sunset, with AR (1)4482 near the center of the refraction-distorted disk. Far fewer atmospheric optics effects than yesterday but bsky.app/profile/cosmos4u.bsky shows four more timesteps anyway. The shift to the left as the Sun's declination is falling is quite evident.

if you look carefully, you can just see the last tiny bit of the sun as it dips behind the sea, just to the left of the stick in the center.

Third #Bochum #sunset in a row, on 24 August, now perfectly clear - the Sun right *on* the horizon was way too bright to look at - and with obvious #sunspots: according to spaceweather.com/images2026/24 these are the activity regions (1)4513 and 4517.
