Heat killed a record 50,000 people in European cities this summer,
new research suggests,
with scientists blaming climate breakdown for two in every three of the deaths.
Hot days pushed vulnerable bodies into overdrive and warm nights prevented them from recovering.
Morgues and funeral homes filled with bodies from June to August
as the heat added by planet-baking pollution cut short an extra 32,000 lives in urban areas,
the researchers found.

Looking at Sun3 psu parts again, it seems to me that they were designed in negative - this little daughtercard makes it pretty obvious - they've not laid down tracks - they've down the gaps and ended up with sets of lands. The whole board is only a few cm across, so I don't think anything here is taking significant power.

"This issue is not specific to the Wikimedia Foundation, but affects any website running PHP. This is a significant internet security vulnerability that many organizations are responding to right now.
We are working to avoid downtime for our wikis, but we have deliberately taken many of our supporting services offline until they can be safely patched."

Let’s tie spectrum access to tax payments and allow all companies to pitch. If they win, they need to pay (significant) taxes in Europe.

So, as a social scientist, I am absolutely fascinated with the longstanding issue about AirBNB guests being requested to do the cleaning of a home that they then have to play a cleaning fee in anyway.
I want to know: has there been any sociologist or economist who's taken a look at this moment where we can, for the first time, put an actual price tag and some data on the economic cost of the maintenance of a home? The ongoing work of homemaking is one of continuous tasks throughout a day, including exactly the list that guests often get, like stripping beds to start loads of laundry with very explicit directions on the washing machine settings...that would normally be stored in the emotional and logistical load of the primary homemaker/caregiver. This is often seen as "too much work" or "not important" or "why are they so picky about the washing machine settings" and the answer, of course, is that for the first time, people who don't have to manage a home have to understand the sheer effort it takes to manage a clean and welcoming home. And now, there has been a specific price tag on it.
I hope someone goes and does this work now, because the data is likely there.

Good grief. Trump not only interferes with football and the law. Now he has interfered with the University of Ghent's judgement about US "Philosopher" and alround ignoramus (about genetics and mathematics), Nathan Cofnas.
Shame on Ghent for succumbing to pressure.

Pilotwings: smoother in 60Hz
This is possibly the first time I've found the difference between 50Hz and 60Hz to have a significant impact on a game. When I tried to play Pilotwings previously, I found that I was constantly fighting with the controls and didn't enjoy it. Amusingly, I forecast at the time that I'd go back to the game "in a couple of years".
❝[This is] about who the economy is working for. In a general sense, it’s probably a safe bet at any time that the economy is largely working for people with capital. But in an economy driven by consumption, that at least ties back significantly to things people want. The simple reality here is that the AI boom is making huge amounts of money for people at the top of the economic ladder…while choking off investment in everything else.

We have this running debate about why people are so down on the economy when economic indicators either aren’t that bad or are really good. This is pretty clearly the answer. ❞
