Worlds colliding.
(I found the abstract character and scale of this landscape quite useful in trying to imagine the sheer forces and long development, the history and changes of places/valleys like this... The left slopes are leading up ~1800m to the majestic summits and glaciers of the Weißkamm (White Ridge) in the central Alps)
#TextureTuesday

View of the upper slopes of a canyon in an empty high alpine landscape. The steep side on the left consists of mainly bare rocks (in colorful strata and shades of rust and ochre), also emphasized by the autumn light. A barely visible narrow path (partially secured via steel rope) is leading over the rocks into the distance. The other side of the canyon consists of rocks in rich dark browns, the lower slopes semi-covered in dry grasses, dropping off vertically into the deep shade near the bottom…

For #TextureTuesday some more WIP snapshots of STRATA, a generative system I've been on/off working on since 2014 (in Clojure/TypeScript/Zig, originally for the cover design of HOLO magazine), loosely based on 1950s research/experiments by Barricelli, somewhat related to cellular automata and extended to use a different and much larger set of "reproduction/collision rules" f…

Abstract, colorful & highly detailed pixel texture, resulting from a cellular-automata-like simulation generation process.

a close up of a holey brick, stacked on a pallet of bricks in such a way that all the holes of the bricks behind pretty much line up. a bit of light is visible at the end of the brick holey tunnel.

Beautiful colors and textures of Fallenbacherspitze (2723m) in the cool evening light of the last day of August... Timeless, yet a distinct feel of autumn quickly approaching...
The reds & browns are chert and radiolarite, key aspects of the larger Feuerspitze group this mountain is part of...
#MountainMonday

Photo of a rugged mountain peak with its main face showing layers of different sedimentary rocks, shades of white/light gray, beige, brows, deep reds. A few slopes on the side covered in grass, illuminated by the evening sun. The pass and valley below are already in the shade of the slowly setting sun. Clear, pale blue sky.
