Today Iran launched the longest range ballistic missile ever used in open warfare by (unsuccessfully) attacking Diego Garcia 4000km away in the Indian Ocean.
They also said they were open to attack tourist and other non military places.

Here's the uncomfortable part. NATO is cowardly and inept. If that was not true, Ukraine would not still be trying to expel Russia from its territory.
But of course, that's not the context here, and telling your 'friends' they are cowards even when they did in fact come to your aid and spilled blood the one time you asked, is not how you keep those friends.

This 10 minute “forward guidance” message is worth watching from Carney. It is mostly, but not all, the same talking points. He continues to make suggestions that Canada is moving as quickly as possible from USA trade and other links. There is some strong 1812 symbolism and nationalism toward the end. The video is reminiscent of the pandemic messages from Trudeau but with less immediate emergency and more political re-packaging of previous announcements.
I would give it a B based on a solid message, but still lacking a lot of clarity and concrete, identifiable and accountable actions.

At what point do the leaders of the world coordinate a joint statement to tell Donald Trump to calm the F down?
Because really, this rhetoric is way way out of hand.
Even Putin, whoever Iran's current leader is, Kim Jong Il, Bibi, all seem more rational than the current inhabitant of the White House. I don't believe any of them would use nuclear weapons first.
I am no longer sure that Trump will resist, certainly not Hegseth.

France is on its 5th Republic.
Perhaps it is time for serious citizens of the United States of America to start thinking about the successes and failures of the USA’s first republic and start working on a constitution and system of government for the 2nd American Republic.
It could be argued that this is a natural cycle for all democracies. France went back and forth from Republic to Empirical Fascist half a dozen times in 200 years before landing on its fifth iteration in 1958.
Many other countries (Spain, Germany, Austria) have had similar progressions.

There was a New Year's Eve around 2014 where CNN was doing live hits to their anchors in various places around the USA and Don Lemon was hosting in a bar in New Orleans.
He was doing tequila shots throughout the broadcast and by midnight was pretty much blasted.
That's when I knew for sure that he was good people.
But this just confirms it fully. Not surprised at all that he's been using his position to advocate against the facists.
