Spain has offered a package worth up to €1 billion to support the construction of the #ThirtyMeterTelescope (TMT) on La Palma in the Canary Islands: https://europeanspaceflight.com/spain-offers-e1-billion-in-bid-to-host-thirty-meter-telescope/ - the Spanish site is currently the project’s designated alternative, with Mauna Kea in Hawaii remaining the preferred location.
