If you can conjure fond memories of Commander Keen, .arj files, nc (one of my favorite utils), shareware like SCAN108.ZIP (yea, probably in caps)... you probably spent a fair bit of time at the C:\> prompt when you weren't dialed into your favorite BBS. And like me, you're getting old :-)

#throwbackthursday

a photo of a traveling hippy site on a wide bridleway from the 1990s that i messed around with in GIMP about 7 years ago. landrover on the left, Cheltenham trailer on the right with a wooden headboard lent on it. swirly green paterns in the sky and ground. artifacts of distant vehicles, trees etc.

My family in 1955.

Group family photo of a bunch of 21 white people taken in 1955. There are five individuals with a green bar superimposed on them. They are the only ones alive today. I’m the young boy at center bottom, aged 5yo.

Beam me back, Scotty!
(To one of my favorite places on this planet... We went till the foot of the 1000 meter tall vertical ice fall in the very back, past the beaten paths... #FootpathFriday and belated #ThrowbackThursday time)

A short section of path visible a few hundred meters above a large, but dying glacier. Snow and ice packed 4000 meter mountain peaks in the back, other glaciers coming down in side valleys, but disconnected (too short) due to climate change. The path is surrounded by tundra vegetation in beautiful autumn colors. Blue sky with some cumulus forming on the horizon.

single-panel comic. A bear is holding a dripping fish over its mouth. The fish is saying, "Hold on there a minute, fella. Haven't you heard? ... It's Throwback Thursday."

Flashback to August 8, 2019, when a top-tier 1 TB SSD was $107.99 with free shipping.
Crucial was a brand known for top-quality consumer products at competitive prices. They are no more as Micron ended the brand at the end of 2025 to shift production to enterprise parts for AI data centers. Another casualty of the global warming bullshit machine.
I took this screenshot on August 8, 2019, before buying one.

This is a cropped screenshot of an Amazon listing for a Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 inch internal SSD with a price of $107.99. The model number is CT1000MX500SSD1.

Jan. 9, 2025: A vibrant portrait of Krishna and his consort Rukmini. I found it stashed behind stuff on top of a storage closet at an office in #Udupi #Krishna Matha, #India.

How much household stuff can you move across 8 states, 1600 miles, in a Chevy Sonic? 🚗
A lot as my wife and I established in Nov. 2020 at the height of COVID. 🗓️ #throwback
Anyway, sad to say goodbye to that car today. 🎁 #donation
