Good Morning #Canada
Back in January my daughter and I set a date to watch the #TorontoSceptres in mid March. It's a good thing we bought tickets early because interest in the Professional Women's Hockey League is surging after the #Olympics. Most of the remaining games in Canada are now sold out, merchandise sales were up over 100% in February, and the league has 5 times the web traffic versus 2025. League management is being cautious but expansion to Europe is now being discussed.
Growing up my daughters were competitive softball players and a lot of their friends played hockey or soccer. At an early age they thought it was bullshit that there were no career options for exceptional women players. Fast forward 20 years and we can now sit in the stands and enjoy professional women's basketball, soccer and hockey. It's not equal to men's sport in pay or prestige yet, but we'll enjoy the progress and cheer for more.
