Back in 2018, I took the Maglev between Longyang Road and Pudong Airport. The route was so short that the train was only able to get to it's top speed for something like a minute before it had to start slowing down again. The new Chuo Shinkansen is supposed to go from Tokyo to Osaka and be faster than the Shanghai Maglev. I think that's really cool.

I saw a train-related meme and I suddently felt annoyed that English uses the word „switch“ for the railway thing where one track becomes two tracks. That’s just confusing. 🫤

One of the absolute best things about #portalberni is the No7 Steam Train. It was under repairs for a few years and boy did we miss it but this year it has run on many weekends. It’s doing Santa runs along the waterfront and rail yard every Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening to Christmas!
