Realized I could take a faster train that leaves 30 mins later and costs $38 instead of $61, and arrives only 20mins later. Changed it at the station at the very last minute; no line, no hassle. I love #trains, can you imagine trying to do that with a plane flight?

Back in 2018, I took the Maglev between Longyang Road and Pudong Airport. The route was so short that the train was only able to get to it's top speed for something like a minute before it had to start slowing down again. The new Chuo Shinkansen is supposed to go from Tokyo to Osaka and be faster than the Shanghai Maglev. I think that's really cool.

And this week I heard there is not one single seat available between Copenhagen and Hamburg the weekend *before* Easter. That effectively means no-one from anywhere in Scandinavia can travel to the rest of Europe by train, because there isn't enough capacity in the system 🤬

One of the absolute best things about #portalberni is the No7 Steam Train. It was under repairs for a few years and boy did we miss it but this year it has run on many weekends. It’s doing Santa runs along the waterfront and rail yard every Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening to Christmas!

Swiss startup Sun-Ways is testing removable solar panels installed on an operational railway line through a pilot project with French railway operator SNCF in Switzerland.

PS: "Garden City" is Bengaluru's moniker, which is just so not apt anymore. Still a nice city.
