I love how, because the parts are in reality the works of different humans, online spaces have comically absurd behaviours, and for this, #Tumblr wins all prizes. Those who've worked in such environments will know, the rest try to imagine the corporate action chain behind it:
Once upon a time, a Share took the Unsubscribed to that post, and a scroll stream of 'similar'. Today that scroll stream is a few, then a demand to belong. Meanwhile the rss feed has always been public, as is a named blog like my https://teledyn.tumblr.com — why would they only fence via their own app? 😅
That said, it's a shame Instagram didn't have that same oversight.
