Then, another friend called to say he'd come over if I'm home. I said yes and he brought me 8 mangoes plus a lunch box w mango nectar.
Glad I said no to the first offer or I'd have to open a mango store. 😅

Had the best seat to view the entire 90 mins of the annual ritual bathing of the idols at Kaniyooru Matha #Udupi #India. I chose not to take my own pictures during the ritual so I can be there fully in the moment. I did take some pictures after 👇.

Entered Kaniyooru Matha just as the Swamiji was handing out flowers after the evening service: got two nice roses and two strings of the most fragrant jasmine. Also got a big ball of "prasaada" (they make only two balls). 🙇‍♂️
Then saw this glorious presentation of Krishna. And ran into a friend who gave us some goodies he had set aside for us from the lunch menu. 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️

The "nawagraha kindi" in #Udupi Krishna Matha is one of the more famous windows in #India.
1. Visitors see the idol of Krishna through one of 9 holes in the window.
2. Cameras can see well from a distance through one of the holes.
3. If given enough time, the eyes can get a good view, but visitors usually don't get that much time (only 3-5 secs/visitor).

Today saw this presentation of Krishna and had 1-1 with two swamijis. Also met many people who've accepted me as their own. Even picked up some goodies. ☺️😋

Today is International Yoga Day. Apropos, a picture of 800 years old idol of "yoga narasimha" of Kaniyooru Matha, Udupi; the gold cladding is recent. The idol on its right is also yoga narasimha but a few decades newer. On the left is Krishna; age unknown but old.
I love the detail of the crowns and other ornaments, as well as that of the silver arch behind the idols. And of course the elegance of the simple decoration.

Narasimha is the fourth incarnation of the #Hindu god Wishnu. For reasons, rage is a key trait of Narasimha, especially early in the incarnation. #trivia
Yesterday (Thursday) was "Narasimha Jayanthi", the birthday of Narasimha. The occasion is observed with pomp in Waisnavite locations across #India.
I of course attended the Narasimha Jayanthi festivities in #Udupi. Of the many people I encountered, two were rather rude and directed some anger at me, which I thought I didn't deserve. Still, I handled one of them right, which is by ignoring them; but I think I responded a wee bit in kind to the second. 😳
Needless to say, those two interactions left a bitter taste in me, but I later consoled myself that maybe it was just that Narasimha cast his shadow on some people that day, what with him having just been born. 😀

My wife and I went to a "Yakshagaana" #play today in #Udupi #India. It was only the second play we've ever sat through fully (our first was just last week).
I've so much to say about the experience but don't know where to begin, except say it was mind blowing and wish all #theater was this masterful.
