Well, it turns out that the #godot 360 panorama #vr renderer I wrote still wasn't right.
It does a final image-warp to map from the perspective projection it renders into an equirectangular projection for playback, and the function was doing the opposite of the intended job.
I only thought it was working because it also had an eye-switching bug which fixed the eyes-rendering-wrong bug in the earlier code so really seemed to make things look better.
Only really became apparent as I got to rendering things other than test graphics.
That's fixed now, by reversing the mapping function.
Is it right now? Yes? Maybe. I dunno. I don't really understand the maths let alone why I had to reverse it.

Researchers have developed a system that provides a virtual walking experience to a seated person by real-time synthesis of a walking avatar and its shadow on a 360-degree video with vibrations to the feet. The shadow of the avatar induces an illusory presence of their body. In the future, it is expected to provide an immersive experience for any recorded medium with a virtual embodiment.

Apparently the only way to get a replacement #vr Vive cable* is to either import a custom 3rd party one from America or pick them up second hand off of ebay.
Neither of which is gonna be with me this week. 😞
Now I have an excuse for not getting back to the project properly tomorrow rather than just failing to even try at least.
Oh, or here is my chance to work on the no-headset-required keyboard-and-mouse interface for a few days then I suppose.

Had a lot of fun at Sunday Service's THE SUNDAY SERVICE SPINNING SOCIETY F'RALITY PLAYN'TS FESTIVAL OF AMAZING JOY AND WUWU PARTY TIME LETS GOOOOOO (yep that's the event name) this Sunday, even if I was only able to be there for about an hour.
