Sun City Girls – “Grotto Of Miracles” (1986)
Placebo Records
My second favorite SSG album.
The condition of this one is surprisingly good given how often I played this on the radio back in the day.
I’ll never give these up.

Album jacket front artwork is a black and white drawing of three women standing back to back in a half circle. Mostly naked. Behind them is a white square over an orange circle, on black background.

Devo – “Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!”

Dickless – “I'm A Man” b/w “Saddle Tramp” (1990)
7” 45RPM
First edition of 4000 copies on green vinyl
The appeal for me at the time was their bass heavy, grungy sound. Never saw them live, but heard they were pretty bad. Maybe that’s why they were so short lived 🤷‍♂️
I prefer the b-side on this one. It’s got a melody.

Sparks – “Angst In My Pants” (1982)
Not sure what year I got this, but it was definitely after seeing Valley Girl 😎
Along with “Whomp That Sucker” and “In Outer Space”, this was a big part of the soundtrack to my early teen years. I remember seeing them play at Magic Mountain in 1983. I just happened to be there at that time. Total coincidence.

Debut studio album from the godfathers of goth-rock. I’ll never forget the first time I heard “Stigmata Martyr”.
I don’t think I played this much. Just a few times before putting it away for decades. So the condition is very good. This pressing has great sound quality too.

The year I got into Flipper. My highschool buddies only tolerated “Sex Bomb” because it was funny and weird.

Embrace – “Embrace” LP (1987)

Got this one soon after hearing a few tracks on college radio. It sounds better to me every year.
The songs are written in the context of Washington, D.C.'s 1985 Revolution Summer, which is apparent in the song titles and lyrics.
Favorite track is “Money”. It’s a timeless topic, sung from a common perspective on how lame it is that money rules our world.

Various Artists– No Wave
U.S. release on A&M Records, 1978
Marbled light blue vinyl
One of my favorite early compilations. A bunch of very different bands from A&M. Joe Jacksons single "Sunday Papers" was debuted on this album a year before his "Look Sharp" album.
Confusing title but this was A&M's attempt to promote British New Wave, Power Pop, and Post-Punk bands in the U.S.
