I just donated $50 to #PizzaAtThePolls to help keep Democracy Delicious this year - You can too! #DemocracyIsDelicious
Some friends have taken their #accordion out to entertain at polling lines to create the full Italian ambiance 🪗
Make Democracy Safe for Squeezeboxes! If voting wasn't worth fighting for, they wouldn't work so hard to take your right to do it away
The longer the line at the polls, the more voting's opponents want you to stay home 🍕

The Shape-Shifting Sounds of the Accordion
Maria Telesheva from Eugene, Oregon, plays B-system chromatic button accordion
226 buttons, 35 lbs / 16 k, quite a workout — playing pieces by Bach and Schubert
In this well-filmed performance you can watch her hands dance on both sides of the instrument❤️‍🔥🪗
In a short ted talk she discusses how she learned as a child from her father/teacher, and plays two beautiful pieces

❤️‍🔥🪗 Today is #BandcampFriday and this week's @… radio/podcast episode is full of #accordion artists you can listen to today and send them 90% of whatever you spend
Links to all their music is up at:
#AccordionBandcamp for hundreds more recommendations past and future ❤️‍🔥🪗

Nice people sending @… emails congratulating us on our “outside the box”radio show thinking we will really like their creative music
But, we have this one constraint…
It’s there in the name of the show! 🪗
That’s the one box we won’t go outside
We love to hear from listeners and artists 🥰
But if you go to the effort to send music to play on the #Accordion radio show, make sure it has some squeezebox in there
(Sending snacks might help too 🍪)

The Ongoing Transformation of Cabo Verdean Music
By Ana Rita d’Almeida · Illustration by Amy Moss
#CaboVerde 🇨🇻 #CapeVerde
Lots of great #AccordionBandcamp recommendations! ❤️‍🔥🪗
#accordion #AfricanMusic #WorldMusic

Online translation recognizes Cape Verdean Creole 🇨🇻 #HipHop as Portuguese
But cannot translate it at all 🧐
Just returns the original text back at you in the box where it’s supposed to give you “English”
The lyrics are here if you can read them though! That’s quality-service
Earning our #AccordionBandcamp recommendation

Starting to construct our 24 hour 20th Anniversary Celebration of @… radio
To air December 2nd on #Vancouver's #CoopRadio
Reconstructed and fixed typos we made on this playlist from the 2007-06-01 #PaulineOliveros episode ❤️‍🔥🪗
Not sure I'll touch up every playlist as I go along, but here's one to see what was going on during our late-night shifts back in the early years of our show

Still 15 minutes left to support artists during #BandcampFriday
I just grabbed #WendyMcNeill and #DanielKahn's albums
And some electronic/hip-hop #accordion from the Ivory Coast
#AccordionBandcamp

The new (last year) #DanielKahn album UNRU / Unrest ends with a lovely version of #TomWaits’ “Time Time Time” in #Yiddish
Always a beautiful closer 🥰
No 🪗 on this fiddle/cello? Version, still
Wish we could play it on @… radio. But there’s plenty more to choose from
It opens with another cover, with #accordion! From #BonnyPrinceBilly’s “I See A Darkness” which always needed squeezebox so it’s about time 😊
#AccordionBandcamp recommended has liner notes!

HONORIA:
A Fortuitous Friendship
by Janice Shapiro
#GraphicNovel about a girl who spends the summer with Honoria, the daughter of Sara and Gerald Murphy, who invented the literary "summer on the Riviera" in the 1920s, witnessing endless parties with such luminaries as Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Picasso and Dorothy Parker

For #BandcampFriday here's a #Cumbia remix of Bela Lugosi's Dead
Sadly with no #accordion 🪗😥
Maybe @… can work up one for a #halloween episode of @…
#Goth #Polka version on #Bandcamp from the Polkaholics that is surprisingly good. #AccordionBandcamp Recommended:

Maria Telesheva 🪗 on #NPR's #TinyDesk plays #Bach's Prelude and Fugue No. 2 in C minor (Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1)
With the crowd breaking into applauds during a pause, like in the old days before things got so uptight in the #ClassicalMusic scene 👏🏼
Plus some other young musicians doing cool stuff that hopefully they enjoy
