Returned from an expedition to the Lower Ice Lake ("Unterer Eissee") beneath Hallstätter Glacier #Dachstein #Austria with @…, Ulrike Herzschuh (both @…) and Jakob Korneli (@…). We wanted to take lake sediment cores to reconstruct the vegetation development of the last c. 130 years.
We previously did some avalanche rescue training. Unfortunately, the snow and avalanche conditions prevented us from reaching our destination, and we had to return.
