For anyone who knows and loves the UBC Museum of Anthropology - in my opinion Vancouver’s #1 tourist attraction, and it’s not close - this is a remarkable story. Also, lots of gory details about earthquake-resistant building tech:

Finally got my hands on Timothy G. McLellan's new book, *Science Interrupted,* & his approach (thinking ethnographically with, instead of merely against, bureaucracy) is great. 👇
@… & I attempt something similar in our recent piece on institutionalized research ethics in anthropology.
The book:

McLellan, p. 3: "For many anthropologists and in many anthropological subfields, the idea of anthropology as a practice of thinking with our ethnographic interlocutors would go without saying. When it comes to certain objects of inquiry, however, anthropologists have been less inclined to adopt this method. This is perhaps especially so with the often-interconnected themes of audit cultures, bureaucracy, and international development."
