I regularly drag my feet on some upgrades, but this is getting a bit ridiculous. I'm using an iPhone 13 Mini because my tiny hands can't hold the giant phablets. And iOS 18.7.2, because I hate the AI junk crammed into everything and don't want nauseating translucent UI effects. But there's a lot of security bugs lately that might demand something to change. Uggghh.
I wish portable pocket computers were less capable and had more battery life.

1. I have disabled & deleted all indexes. Because they are broken.
2. Spotlight still shows some results. How? Where are they coming from?
3. I am fairly sure Spotlight auto-corrupts its own index when encountering some errors.

I am pleased to report that we discovered how to get the new version of the Knowledge App to work with Apple tv
I pulled the cable out of the box while it was still trying to download the app unsuccessfully. I waited a short while then plugged it back in and waited again until service was restored.
Bingo. The new app was downloaded in a few seconds and works perfectly
I should have tried that first!

For the past years the #Apple app store landing page has constantly been an ad for some mobile game about kings and clans that only existed to get people to pay for in-app purchases.
Now, whenever I open the app store on my phone it's always AI crap: "Learn with ChatGPT". "Do more with Gemini".

The latest Finder bug is that I have windows open that I can move around but can no longer select the files in the window. I also cannot close, or maximize or minimize the window.
I have four of them jammed into the lower edge of the screen for now until I reboot. (Current uptime is 22 days.)

Plenty of bad and annoying things about Apple and iCloud in particular, but one good experience I've always had is if I buy something on the App Store or a subscription or anything through the Apple Store, and then ask for a refund within a few hours or days, they pretty much always refund it in full within 24 hours of the request.
It makes doing things like trying out a bit of software... realizing I don't like it or it doesn't do what I want... and ‘giving it back' much easier.

- Keep It
- EagleFiler
It's a very difficult decision to make.
1. I’ve been using and paid for Evernote for years. It is available on all platforms. I am most probably using just a fraction of its features.
2. Keep It: seems to be an #Apple-centric solution. It’s still subscription based and doesn't save me very much compared to Evernote.
3. EagleFiler is #macOS only. Pay-and-own model (love it!)

Huh.
Not every day Apple releases a new line of hardware. Let alone a cheaper one.

God I hate how much the 'recent' folder in Apple macOS has screwed up people's knowledge of where files are stored.
Most beginning to intermediate computer users have no idea where their files are, how to find them, or how to organize them.
Also, automatically forcing people to save onto the Cloud rather than their computers in a way that automatically limits their storage capacity and degrades their user experience is wrong.
