That's when it all started to happen, 4 years ago! OpenBox on ArchLabs, the standout distro that kicked my Linux journey into a higher gear 🍻 Started out with it around 2020,21 but I found this scrot. Epic.

Getting there! Updated and patched to dwm 6.8, on Void. And since spring is coming I decided to go for that good ol' murky foliage kind of stuff 😜

You have that gnarly application that only comes in rpm, deb and AppImage. Then you suddenly remember Distrobox. And AlpineLinux is made for these setups. Tests finished, I'll finally be able to run KDE with all my required apps on Alpine! #alpinelinux #archlabs
As a non-dev I really enjoy the strictness of code. And the strictness of reading error-messages. Miss a comma or a curly bracket and you're reminded of your shortcomings. The ah-yes-of-course moment. Come across that with my nixos-rebuild and the dwm make. Loving it. As long as I can solve it 🤣

Total distraction. Per usual. But at least that work laptop has Slackware Current with mangowc and sway all running great and smooth. Add noctalia for some bling (although it costs me an extra 300mb of ram compared to waybar...) and that's good to go. VoidLinux and dwm tomorrow then, with a little help of Bakkeby? Yup 👍🏻
As long as I don't get distracted again 🤣

As said before musl-based AlpineLinux really rocks. Of course running all required stuff, like a full KDE session, a firewall and podman (for distrobox), flatpak for all 'bigger' applications and still clocking in at 903Mb. For me that shows how lean everything has been put together. Cool.

The worst thing about moving is the end of it. Our stuff will be arriving Monday; we moved into the Cave today. So, how about that relentless distrohopping of the last 2 weeks? That's gotta stop now 😩 CachyOS, Zena, Zirconium, Origami, Arch proper, Garuda: it's been a pleasure! I'll manage to squeeze one final one in and then it's back to the proper init systems 😝

A couple of days in the countryside of Vietnam has a refreshing effect on screentime. Family, friends, eating all the time and sufficient boredom.
I'm seriously considering winding down to this rhythm. Can assure you all our digi-stuff is essentially totally unimportant. No laptops seen here, and 8 year old smartphones are sufficient to do anything.

Zena Linux, that bootc container image with Mangowc and Niri, is humming along nicely. Finally spending some time to clean up configs for both wm's. And Fastfetch to do also 😜

Of course, before heading out at 4AM tomorrow morning, I had to wrap up that laptop. And finally got LUKS LVM with EfiBootmanager working on Gentoo🥳Close to 20 installs and still learning new things, great.
When I come back I'll be doing a clean install of dwm 6.8 on it. Not just re-making my old dots. Now that's something to look forward to!

Remember I did that bootc KDE container, based on the Bluefin template? That method is really handing the power to the user. I've now tried Origami (Cosmic), today a brief stint with Zirconium (Niri and Dank) and I'm now heading into Zena. That last one looks to be very special, and is also a bootc container. More later.

05::55 Saigon. The days just before Tet (our Lunar New Year) are my favorite ones. Streets empty out, everyone is happy to celebrate. On to the coffee ☕

Suddenly dwm is updated twice within a very short timeframe (months that is, not the usual years).
What is the world coming to?
