My haul from Waterstones this morning. I went specifically looking for Body Work so was delighted to find it. I didn't mean to buy the two other books. I was initially drawn in by the lovely covers, then the 'buy one get one half price' stickers. I've enjoyed many Japanese novels in translation, starting with The Makioka Sisters by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki a few years ago.

Three books laid out on a sofa cushion. At the top Body Work by Ben Aaronovitch. Underneath two Japanese novels in translation: The Passengers on the Hankyu Line by Hiro Arikawa, tr by Allison Markin Powell, and More Days at the Torunka Café by Satoshi Yagisawa, tr by Eric Ozawa. That one has three cats and knitting on the front so I can't go wrong!

Successfully returned from our rescue & retrieval mission of my son's Apple Pencil which fell through the decking at a café yesterday. He made some wire hooks to lift it back out through the gap between the boards, like a pro... Result: E-waste avoided and 149 Euro saved (what an absolute rip off)!

På grund af heden får jeg ikke gået meget rundt i Montpellier men i morges kom jeg tidligt nok afsted til at jeg kunne gå de 20 minutter til konferencen inden varmen slog til. Her er faktisk pænt! (Min Airbnb ligger i et lidt shabby område hvor flere veje lugter af tis, så jeg har ikke været meget imponeret).
I aften satser jeg på at finde en restaurant i midtbyen med nogle kolleger og se lidt mere af stedet (min vært siger at byen kan dateres helt tilbage til 985!).

Sandstensfarvet, gammel treetagers bygning på hjørnet mellem en af hovedgaderne og en mindre sidegade. Der er en café i stueetagen og mennesker der bevæger sig rundt. Solen er stærk fra en skyfri himmel. Man kan se sporvognsspor på vejen

En smuk, ældre bygning med grønmalede døre og flere træer foran ud mod vejen. Har ingen idé om det er beboelse eller hvad, men fint ser det ud
