A chilly Canberra sunday morning: grandson is still asleep, grand-dog is on my bed, and I have a cup of tea and a mastodon home feed to read before I contemplate getting up. I love Sundays!

My wife, OTOH, grew up in Sydney and went straight from foot to car as soon as she was old enough. She’s in a wheelchair now, but despite all ass…

Went to a tour of the University House restoration progress with Peter Kanowski today. Looking really good. Soft open of cellar bar and kitchen in June/July. Public opening on 14/15 August.

University House's main dining hall with Leanard French's mural "Regeneration" at the far end.
The new kitchen facilities with lots of shiny new stainless steel equipment and benches all over the place. In the foreground are a new 4-burner induction cook top and a gigantic motorised bratt pan.
The Scarth Room with all its dark Queensland walnut paneling restored, including removing the white paint on the ceiling panels giving a darker and "more authentically oxbridge" feel to the room.
Boffins Restaurant with both the restored original parquetry floor (foreground) and new extension (right/rear). All the new updates have been given mid-century styling and fabrics including a "bricklaying" arrangement of wooden boxes separating the dining area from the bar and access corridor behind.

Public holiday today but only in NSW/ACT and WA. Although I'm in Canberra I still had a few commitments. Managed to squeeze in a coffee walk with husband between web work and a zoom meeting. Now to watch a couple more episodes of The Pitt season 2 before bed.

Off to the Canberra Comedy Festival Gala tonight - it's one of my favourite events of the year. I get to see some of the comedians really like, as well as some others I've not seen before. I don't go to quite as many festival shows these days but the gala is a must - and it's always a blast. We'll stop in at Tiger Lane for an early feed beforehand.
