Mussel-inspired glue from recycled plastics can be detached and reused
Researchers at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory have invented a reusable adhesive from waste polymers that is tougher than commercial glues, works underwater as well as in dry environments, and bonds a variety of materials, including wood, glass, metal, paper and polymers.

I'm a huge fan of candy bars packed with nuts but will gladly also eat the healthier, nut-forward ones that one might find in the checkout-aisle at REI. What I've noticed, sadly, is that the healthier bars almost always have rancid nuts; candy bars almost never do. Is that because candy bars sell so fast, but health bars sit on shelves for years before selling? Or do health-bar makers just buy rancid nuts and hope people don't notice? Or maybe encasing nut fillings in chocolate protects the contents from oxidation??? #food #candy #nuts #rancid #chemistry
