I’ve heard or uttered variations on the phrase “I’ll believe it when I see it” in numerous conversations through out the day. That seems to be the prevailing sentiment. People are willing to be hopeful, but nobody’s counting their chickens just yet.

Chickens are an import. Turkeys are indigenous. Not sure if there was any western hemisphere domestication of fowl of any sort pre-1492, but it seems odd that we use essentially asian birds when a similar bird was RIGHT THERE.

I kept hearing mooing today.
Went out back to look and the neighbor has 4 calves in a fenced in area.
I ignored when he brought in 8 chickens even though you are only supposed to have 3 and no roosters which he has one of. But cattle? And a goat But looks like someone beat me to it as the sheriff pulled up while I was looking. Said the people on the other side of the creek reported what sounded like an animal in distress.

When and if archeology is done on this society, they'll be puzzled, as I am, by the prodigious number of chickens kept, slaughtered, processed, eaten.

We got some eggs from a friend who has chickens, so I whipped up a little breakfast sandwich with one of the pretzel buns I made last week.
