Not only has ChimeraLinux all the goodies I recently mentioned, but nushell and it's compatriot vivid are in the user repository also. Now that's cool!

Usually you grab an LTS kernel for ZFS support. Chimera Linux has zfs support for the stable (atm 7.2.2) kernel. And LibreOffice 26.08 right now. And KDE 6.7.4 servicepack 2 as well. I'll be heading back soon, a gem!

Kudos to the maintainers of ChimeraLinux for putting such a gem together and quietly, but persistingly, updating it to the latest and greatest (here with KDE 6.7.3). Thanks! 🤓 🍻

That hybrid approach applied. Chimera Linux takes care of a great base, including KDE. I use verified Flatpaks for all major things (librewolf, vlc etc). Distrobox for that one akward application I need. Setup of that on Chimera is as painless as it can be. I do the same on Slackware, although I make some essential pkgs myself also. So, trusted base, containerized applications. No AUR here. Anymore 🤣

Scrot showing a distrobox and the application in Fedora pkg format that has been exported from it. All on Chimera Linux.

Mostly (points at himself) it's staring you in the face. I wanted for the work laptop: musl, zfs and encryption, no systemd, the latest KDE. And then i remembered the excellent write-up by @… , installing a Chimera Linux base with all that. And Chimera has 6.7 in the repos. A perfect combo!
