This weekend the daughters are visiting for an annual tradition - interior Christmas decorating including the tree. I'm responsible for exterior decorations, and that was done 2 weeks ago. My only job inside is to put up our 35 year old artificial tree (bought at a post Christmas sale at White Rose) and then get out of the way. That tree will outlive me I think.
My wife is very excited because we are in a new house which means she MUST shop for new stuff. Actually she needs very little since we downsized this year and she has recently given away 2 boxes of assorted holiday decorations by posting them as FREE on a local online marketplace. Apparently a young couple, new homeowners and short on cash, were the lucky recipients. Tis the season...

After a big family breakfast the #ChristmasTree got trimmed, which is holiday-speak for hanging stuff on it. Besides a string of white LED lights and traditional red and gold ribbon, it is a mixture of unique balls, personal decorations and hand made ornaments. Each of our Christmas stockings will usually have a new ornament, almost always handmade, so after 47 years of marriage we have a large storage container full of tree decorations that got bumped from regular rotation.
One of the decorations posted below is hated by my wife - can you guess which one?

Have you put up your #ChristmasTree yet? #StatsCan (2021 census data) reports there are 1,364 Christmas tree farms. Ontario (418) had the most farms, followed by British Columbia (276) and Quebec (257). Nova Scotia’s 213 farms were more than the combined total of the Prairie and Maritime provinces (199). Canadian Christmas tree producers earned nearly $163.5M in 2021, and exported over 2.4 million fresh Christmas trees that same year. most of which (97.2%) ended up in the United States. Final destinations for most of them were Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina and Virginia. Trump's tariffs hit artificial trees with a 30% price hike which means it could be an excellent year for real Canadian trees in the U.S. market. Most of the remaining exports in 2021 were to warmer climates in the Western Hemisphere, including Panama, Curaçao, Bermuda, Aruba, St. Maarten (Dutch part) and Barbados.
