I hate this timeline.
As a long time #climate campaigner... I almost feel like I should be hoping that the Iran/US war continues as long as possible so the price of oil and gasoline can go as high as possible and force economies to electrify and shift at emergency-speed to renewables.
We could have started on this the easy way 30 years ago... but a few of the same people objected and obstructed.

Alternate Headline: “Trans Mountain doubles exports in 2025 resulting in 82 million tonnes of CO2 to atmosphere.”
The news dutifully omits the CO2 impact so here's the math:
There is 2.79 tonnes of CO2 in 1 tonne of average crude oil.
2025 exports: 24.4 million tonnes
= 68 million tonnes of CO2
Oh, but that's not all!
Alberta oil emits about 85kg of CO2 for every barrel of oil produced.
24.4 million tonnes of crude is 176 million barrels
Another 14 million tonnes of CO2!
Yay Canada!
