I am riding the subway with #columbia students in their full cap and gown regalia commuting 30 minutes to Inwood for their graduation ceremony. There are probably about 20 kids and their families in my car.
I see one student with her cap decorated with a hand embroidered floral interpretation of the #palestine flag. (I purposely did not take a picture of the student’s face - I want no part in doxing.)

The facilities worker who has claimed to have been held hostage - was asked to leave- but he didn’t want to go, according to the interviewee. Will have to see if they release the video of that encounter.

#wckr #columbia protestors were told they were being arrested for a felony. (Felony Burglary in the 3rd degree levied by #nypd ; some felony assault charges etc.)
They were not read #miranda rights.
And then (to their surprise), at arraignment, these were changed to misdemeanors (trespassing in the 2nd) by the ADAs district attorneys

#wckr #columbia protestor says that the outside agitator accusation is untrue.
The majority of folks in #HindHall were current CUID holders, mostly students and/or recent alumni or otherwise with working #ColumbiaUniversity ID badges.
Sounds like there were a few that did not have cuid, but those folks had been in the encampment from the beginning. (And student protestors thus saw them as part of the community not outsiders.)

#wkcr is reporting that they have been locked out of their station. They are playing a prerecorded message relayed in by a remote computer.
They are supposed to be covering the arraignment of arrested #ColumbiaUniversity protestors this morning but have no access to their equipment or station.
They are generously referring to this lockout as a mistake by #columbia and not an attempt to shut down their #journalism coverage.
Need to keep an ear on them today.

After the protestors used tools to barricade themselves in
#HamiltonHall they intentionally left all tools in a hardware room so that there would be no misconception about them being armed.
They sat in a row and waited, disoriented and passively after the flash bang bombs #nypd used.
The protestors were kicked and brutalized by police as they were arrested.

Hard to capture the number of #nypd and cop cars of every size on every block from my bike.
And the #press covering how the protestors prevent folks from getting around … is itself occupying the public #bikenyc #citibike station actually interfering w peoples ability to get around.
It feels like it’s an occupied zone.
I am feeling shame and sadness this morning.
