I don't know if this is a common thing in #copyright but in Iceland artists get some sort of percentage of resales of their works if there has been an increase in value (I am fuzzy on details).

it's kinda funny (in the "not really" sort of way) when people act upset about companies like Nintendo etc "hurt their own fans".
like, yeah, they are to a large extent a #copyright company, with some game making and hardware design attached.

If copyright is real then the AI machines owe the artists of humankind (which is to say all of us) more money than exists in the banking systems of the planet.
If copyright is not real then the companies that trained those models have no right to exclusive ownership of the weights.
I bet somehow the law conspires to make it the worst of either option.

I just sent messages to both my senators and my congressperson urging them to oppose the Pro Codes Act.
Basically that Act would allow companies to retain copyright in the Law and limit access to it in various ways.
That's absurd, the Law should be in the public domain so that everyone can know what they are expected to abide by.
