Got bitten by pytest-cov not recording coverage in tests for a pytest plugin. Because the pytest plugin gets imported before coverage recording has a chance to start.

I would like coverage.py results in the gutters in VSCode without anything in VSCode trying to do test discovery or execution.
And I would like it without an untrusted extension.
Just read the coverage report occasionally.
Is there something good?
