Remember the stray dog that we adopted a few weeks ago, after park rangers cared for her in a natural reserve but without them being able to find anyone who would claim her as a lost/runaway dog?
Today we took her to be spayed. It was a short surgery, as the vet quickly noticed that she was already spayed. Seems she's at least a year older than initially estimated – which means that it's likely that someone abandoned the poor thing in the reserve.

One thing I may have underestimated about owning a #dog is quite how much more #weather they bring in with them.

Typical way of playing with a #dog: You throw a ball. The dog runs to catch it. It brings it back and asks you to throw again.
Typical way of playing with a #cat: The cat drops the ball of the cat tree. It looks at the human. The human runs to catch it, then brings it back, so the cat can drop it again.

Our wonderful dog, Izzy (the brown and white dog) was taken to a shelter in March 2020 with four very young puppies. One, Star (the black and white dog), lives nearby and he and his human often stop by on their walks. Even after 5 1/2 years, Izzy gets more excited to see Star than any other dog or person, except maybe me. #MonDog

How did I not know that Dogtoberfest is a thing?
Yesterday, the tapping of the keg officially kicked off #Octoberfest in the Kitchener-Waterloo region of Ontario. For those Canadians who live in a cave, KWs Octoberfest is the largest beer festival in the world outside of Germany. It is the 57th anniversary of the event, and in my student days, the big draw was beer and buxom women serving and keeping us in line. But in recent years, there has been an effort to reduce drunkenness and increase the family friendly activities. Kidtoberfest and Dogtoberfest are now part of the festivities that draw happy participants from across Ontario and beyond. It also has the added economic benefit of increased lederhosen production for Canadian factories. Seriously, Google dog lederhosen.
