One of my Lebanese comfort dishes is kefta wa batata — lamb mixture with potatoes. You’d slice the potato and layer them with the meat mixture and the put tomato puree over them and bake. Tonight, I decided to make that into a pizza: the kefta and potato pie.

A homemade pizza with a charred crust, topped with cherry tomatoes and kefta meatballs, sits on a wooden cutting board. The pizza has sauce on the bottom, then mozzarella, garlic, sliced red onions, thinly sliced fermented potatoes, and the kefta and tomatoes.
