So close, yet still so far...
(Standing roughly where the Hintereisferner glacier reached to in 1850. From here it's another 20 mins to the Hochjoch Hospiz at 2413m... where I was the only soul there that day, enjoying true edge of the world vibes. Wonderful!)

My contribution to #footpathFriday , just fresh from the press ;-)
I went to the local hill / mountain today to escape the fog / clouds. Well and also to see whether the fog would create some nice mood to capture along the way that I'm walking rather often.
And indeed it was a very pleasant experience to walk into the fog and breaking through it to see some blue sky.

Channeling Revenant Feelings (Eagle Creek, Oregon, 2017)
(Hoping my friends in the US are doing everything in their power to help protect these sacred wilderness places from the onslaught of out of control greed...)

It's been a day with a lot of input. The absolute opposite of this where I was completely alone.

#FootpathFriday Pulborough Brooks, Wiggonholt, #WestSussex
Just beam me back there again... Right now, exactly two weeks ago. Alone in the valley, on my way back to civilization. Alpenglow forming at the peaks opposite...😍

My contribution to #footpathFriday !
This was a really nice walk. Just as I like it: small paths along a nice mountain.
But I also remember that it was the time I was suffering from something called "frozen shoulder". It was a bit of a challenge to take off /on the backpack. As a wrong movement cause some REAL pain.
But this is over as well and I just try to rec…
As I said previously, I do, do ❤️ ridges... This was six days ago, on almost the last day of autumn (meanwhile it's all white)...

For today's #footpathFriday I chose this trail that I enjoyed this #autumn. I walked it to check whether I could bike it as well. -- Well, I met two bikers but it looks quite ... challenging. Well, not THIS part, but quite some other parts.
Hey guys! two more #schwarzwald #photos! And I found them a perfect fit for #FootpathFriday as well.
This day's hike was so diverse. narrow trails, ferns and moss, a lake, some heat…
Almost reached the top!
(A wonderfully wild path along the cliff edge and glorious evening light on the way to Teufelstättkopf, with a view of the Wetterstein massif and Zugspitze in the distance...)

Reflective pause in Cirque de Troumouse, Pyrenees (just too grand to photograph)...

For #footpathfriday , here's a nice path I'd say.
This is taken from a bike&hike right after the bike-part and thus the start of a very nice autumn hike last year. When I took this photo, I didn't know - and not even expect how well the rest of the day would be 🙂
Enjoy

On the way to Gepatschferner, September 2025... How I miss this place!

So glad about this particular road taken, on that particular day...
(Apologies for the intense lens flares, it was a very bright October day and almost too much for my phone... That hike was such a touching experience, I had to repeat it literally a week later...)

Morning hike in the Lechtal Alps (October 2024)
We seemingly had the valley all to ourselves, for the first few hours the valley floor still mostly frozen with crunchy hoarfrost until the sun was high enough in the sky. The cirque at the end of the valley already completely in deep winter. These transitions (often within just a few minutes) are so magical and unique to mountain regions...

My take for #FootpathFriday from our vacation in the #schwarzwald / #blackforest Iast year.

(One of the) best parts of hiking: Cooling down in ice cold clear water...
