Apples protected from insects by nylon sleeves and from squirrels by stainless steel bags. Now I need to surround the whole tree with fencing to keep the deer away. I have no idea what type of fruit I have. Per the label at the garden store it has four grafts so it will depend on which branch they develop. Thinned the 🍏 apples from the blushing delight today. It is doing really well. The tree is healthy and growing.
The northern spy has had a much rougher spring. It was infested with caterpillars until we safer-soaped it three times and so it just never got a good start. It is also in a more challenging location more exposed to the wind and rain. Only had a few blossoms and now no fruit. But it is still alive. I will try to nurse it through the summer and get it to winter. Hopefully next year it has a better go!
But the Blushing Delight is looking great. We should get over a dozen apples again!
