The saga of the bot written hit piece continues this time claiming that @… had a AI write an article about it when the AI couldn’t scrape the blog it just hallucinated some quotes that never existed. Surreal. Ars definitely have to come clean on what the actual fuck happened there.

Me to my phone: “Hey Google, could you start this app?”
Phone: “What the fuck is an app? Need me to generate ideas for cat costumes instead?”

This whole "OpenClaw" thing has made me very angry and I wrote a bit about the why. It's not that "it's AI": It is the way that kind of project invalidates decades of work and care in free software. "AI" software isn't just careless, it is actively rejecting responsibility and care.

Here's what bothers me about AI-generated code, and I'm going to use my own fuck-up as an example. I was calling a DBus interface from C , which I'd already done elsewhere in the code. So I cut & pasted, and adjusted variable names.. It didn't work. So naturally I assumed something was wrong on the other end. I added delays to make sure the other side had enough time to bring up interfaces, I wrote some introspection code to ensure the interface was available, etc.

Fuck. I was wondering what was going on with my computer since it was so slow, but I assumed it was topaz AI working in the background. Then I got this alert.
Had just updated the BRAW Toolbox plug-in, and when I ran activity monitor I watched that plug-in go from single digit gigabytes of memory to over 80. Meanwhile I was wondering what on earth was causing my MacBook Pro to literally /run down the battery/ while plugged into mains power...
Seems that plugin is dodgy...
