Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble was released in Japan 25 years ago today (August 23, 2000). One of the coolest, most unique Game Boy Color games to come out-- it's a real blast. Here's my copy, and also a Japanese ad for it.

Since I no longer have any gaming hardware, I completely missed the fact Mafia: The Old Country came out.
It was the game I had intended to play on Xbox when I still had one years ago.
After a few hours spent watching the walkthrough on YT I figured this is not my vibe any more.
I appreciate they deviated from this traditional formula of open world city with cars and guns into something roughly similar to Red Dead Redemption. But it's not exactly something I imagined when I was still waiting for the release.
I dunno. I'm not saying this game looks bad, but I might not be in the place to appreciate it any more.

When Jake Klinkert was growing up, his father suggested that since he loved video games, he should make them. Klinkert took those words to heart and went on to earn a Master of Interactive Technology in Digital Game Development from SMU Guildhall. Now a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at SMU's Lyle School of Engineering, he is testing large language models (like ChatGPT) to create non-playable characters (NPCs) that act and respond more like real people.

Enjoyed the demo for Die For The Lich. I've really enjoyed the design space of dice in video games (Dicey Dungeons, DICEOMANCER, Duck and Roll). Similar to cards, they provide explicit input randomness, but you think a lot more about probabilities and sums.
The game feels pretty streamlined, but open to a lot of depth as you earn more dice and trinkets (which you draw like dice).
