My son has put up herb drying hooks for me in the utility room! I'm beyond delighted! He's also put up the plastic greenhouse we got weeks ago so it is now filling with things that need potting on and generally sorting out. I'm also hoping to sort out a small raised veg plot and a pond, so my garden mojo is well and truly back. It's nice to feel enthusiastic again. #gardening

Landscape image of a window taken from indoors. Strings of rosemary and sage hang drying from hooks in the old curtain batten. There are pots of herbs and veg on the windowsill. You can see the garden through the window and for a real treat the laundry on the line. I will be painting this room a much nicer colour after the air pump installation!

How it started / how it’s going
I love English ivy, but I dislike chaos. For what was supposed to be a rainy day, at least I got something accomplished. And the Comcast guy won’t start cursing next time he comes around…
#garden #greenhouse

A small plastic greenhouse from Aldi sits on my back patio, partially covering a window. Next to it is my chimney. A great deal of English ivy has overstepped its bounds and is growing up the brick chimney, into the Comcast demarc mounted there, around and underneath the greenhouse, and is beginning to climb the bricks under the window.
A small plastic greenhouse from Aldi sits a foot out from my chimney. The mass of English ivy from the previous photo is gone, ripped out and transplanted to a better place in the yard. The window formerly blocked by the greenhouse is unobstructed. Everything looks tidier than before.

I'm sitting outside with a coffee, amid the garden Mum planted so skilfully, and which I maybe didn't appreciate while she was alive, and the various things we've stuck in pots - walnut, fig, olive etc - and have just ordered a hazel tree and a cherry tree from The Woodland Trust. Mum had several big ceramic planters that are now empty or full of scrub and they're just right for young trees that are just a twig and a leaf 🌿

Walnut tree about three years old.
Olive tree, freshly fed yesterday.

Probably a long shot but I know there are lots of #garden and #lawn geeks here. Anyone know how to fix a #Chapin #G362D hos…

A Chapin G362D hose end sprayer. It’s attached to a hose that’s turned on and water is spewing out of two holes that appear to be overflow valves. If I remove the tank, this still happens and also water shoots out of the nozzle. The handle is not depressed and the red knob is extended all the way out, so it’s not holding the valve open.

PS.
Here are the two outlets. This is probably not how it will look in the end, but just a starting point. Once I have the water flowing how I want it to, I will use pond foam sealant to lock the rocks into place and force the water into its final channels and patterns but as you can imagine there is some trial and error to be done before that big step.
For noe you can see there is a fold of liner sitting vertically betwewn the rocks to split the channel. I really have no idea where the water will get to once at full force so this might be too high, or too low but it should not be too far off.
The main thing is that the water is contained within the greater system around the tree. That's the trickiest part right now.
It is a wonderful tree. We don't want to drown it.
Speaking of which, if you are wondering about water. Yes. This is thousands of litres of water. But at this point I am not worried if I need to fill up and drain the bog filter a few times. All extracted water will go into the rest of the garden anyway, so aside from a little evaporation, nothing will be wasted.
Still waiting on it to fill. Looks like it won't be full before quitting time. oh well! Back tomorrow water experiments!

oopsie doodles!
Came outside to do some dirt moving only to find the #poolpond intake bay very nearly empty!
I have not been topping up the water since I filled it about 9 days ago? It has been cooler but windy and the last little bit of rain we got was a few days ago.
It must have just got below the level of the intake bay in the past hour or two as it was on its way to emptying. Luckily i caught it in time.
Water is being added now. I am also going to use the twirly sprinkler to water the flower and blueberry garden and it will also add to the pond at the same time in a nice aerated way.
Adding from the hose is not ideal as all that chlorine goes in at the same time
Anyways, crisis averted and information gained. It is already coming back up nicely.
hopefully it is full in time to have a dip after dirt moving!
