We've been out #hiking today. Luckily it wasn't that warm as the sky was covered in clouds - at least sometimes. But to be honest we were surprised that we met just a few people.

Thick mist in the woods. Only a few outlines of trees are visible, with long trunks, ragged, with branches only on their upper half. If focusing, a pathway can be recognized a bit further downhill. In front are some bushes with lush dark green leaves and a tree trunk on the right.

In front, diagonally upwards is a hill with some bright orange-brownish and light green grasses, with a tree trunk and some dead wood in between. This is contrasted by the background with swathes of mist in between darker pale green trees on hills.

Echte Gratwanderung im Steinernen Meer bei Saalfelden vom Wiechentaler Haus über die Persailspitze, Mitterhorn und Breithorn zum Riemannhaus, .gemeinsam mit meinem Wanderfreund Michael. Teilweise versicherter, ziemlich ausgesetzter Klettersteig mit einigen spannenden Stellen und genialer Aussicht.

I usually avoid hikes in the heat, but younger me wasn't so wise.
In 2011 I went up Mt Yishay from Ein Gedi on the Dead Sea. We walked it in reverse, so we only saw the sign when coming down. It was exceptionally hot, even for the region, and there was no water, no shrub and no tree for most of the hike. I had to hide in the shade of a rock crevice for 20min to not pass out 🙈
Also one of my only hikes from negative elevation (-380m − 160m and back).
A girl from the Netherlands who we met on the way insisted on joining us, although she was just wearing a bikini and flip-flops. I thought it was a little stupid, but in the end she did a lot better than me. Another lesson learned 😅

I wanted to post mountain photos more regularly again! So here's one trail from last year where I started really early to avoid the heat.
It was a hike that I did alone and met just like ... 2 or 3 people. Oh and I was glad to have a water filter with me!
I spotted a spring on my way up and - knowing that I'd come pack to it later - I didn't have to use my water sparingly.

I rember a visit at a JackWolfskin store where one of the guys said: "please think about washing the jacket"
Me: "we're washing, impregnating and activating them 2x a year when really dirty/sweated."

Thanks to the #hiking community here, we now (almost) always have a water filter with us and we hardly dehydrated on our #cycling tours since.
I can barely say how good it feels to return without being terrible thirsty. Next issue I really need to solve is eating regularly and enough. Even though I had enough cereal bars with me, I more than once noticed hunger biting my stomach - and with this, a considerable drop of my physical performance.
But it was a lot of fun and joy nonetheless.

Greetings today from #hiking in the #BayerischerWald to the #Lusen summit.
The peak was quite windy and I was well equipped, bringing a soft shell jacket and a beanie. 👍
On the way back I discovered this stone sculpture and it SO reminded me of the places of power in #witcher3.
I tried it, but it didn't work 😕
It's been a beautiful tour that I extended rather spontaneously. But I haven't been to such a frequented summit recently. But I wasn't surprised. So all cool.

We've been #hiking again today! We revisited a route that we did years ago. It was great again, especially as I forgot about a beautiful part of the trail: narrow, a bit exposed. At one part even with an iron rope.
And we were confirmed that it's definitely the time of the year to bring caps, headband and light jackets.
Once the sun is covered by a cloud, it can be pretty chill.
I practiced some new photography style.. Maybe I'll show the results later.

Impressions from our hike yesterday.
Luckily mostly in the shades, a gentle slope, great views and a bit of litter cleanup.
But all the little streams we crossed have gone dry again.
But it's been a great day, finished with an ice-coffee 😊
A couple started the hike shortly before us and one complained about one shoe falling apart "but maybe it still works". A few hundred meters later, it didn't...

Walking on small trails along the river #isar near #wolfratshausen. Even though I'm living in the area since ages, I've never been here before.
