My plans to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing were derailed by two days of rain and high winds, so we made a plan B: the Tama lakes track, which has somewhat less exposure but still gets up over 1400m. We’re lucky we didn’t try Tongariro given how tough the conditions were at Tama lakes – driving snow and winds on the ridge. But we were rewarded with good views and improving weather on the return trip. #hiking

Durch Erosion bricht weicher Stein in größere und kleinere schwarze Brocken mit jeweil scharfen Kanten. Das Gestein ähnelt farblich Schieder, bricht aber nicht in Platten, sondern muscheliger. Der Fotograf fokussiert einen Teil des Hanges scharf, der hintere verschwimmmt in Unschärfe.

"When you are on trail, you realize that all the other people who are out there are out there for the same reasons that you are," she said.
"And maybe they might use the trail differently. So, for example, Greg is primarily a snowmobiler, but I'm mostly walking and hiking. But we both love the outdoors in the same way."

My last hike led me to this summit which is usually very well visited.
But given the weekday & weather, I was totally alone while I was up there. Noone around. No human made sound. Just me and nature. It felt so much like real freedom.

Half an hour wait for the next train? Why not walk to the viewing platform in front of #Kłodzko Fortress? You surely won't regret walking all the way up, on these grid gangways and grid fences that make you perfectly aware how high up you are, and with strong wind blowing onto you as soon as you pass the corner.

On Saturday, I've visited the #Domaszków-#Tarchalice Polder, and was positively surprised. I kinda expected a wet grassy area, but instead I've found a dense #forest, which apparently hasn't been destroyed by Polish Forestry Service mania of wood harvesting.
Nearest train stop: #Orzeszków. Best reached with transfers in Leszno and Głogów. You can also go straight from Wrocław, but that's boooring.
