Set up a second wall panel for #HomeAssistant based on a Lenovo tablet. I have no idea how people actually use android tablets in practice - the amount of abusive features, bloat, and rampant disregard for user consent is shocking. No wonder no one uses android tablets, I was once again close to shucking it out the window a few times, and I was just trying to get Fully Kiosk installed.

While implementing a custom #HomeAssistant control screen, I set a wrong GPIO pin and accidentally created a 100% natural organic cyberpunk.

I found a great deal on a thermostat ($6 vs $100). The crucial factor was that it integrates with Home Assistant. My only gripe is that it has to be activated through a phone app first (even though I've used a fake email), and I wish it could be added to a guest network.

I thought about using an old Pi like before, but I had a spare ESP8266.

Accidently rebooted my #homeassistant machine while it was doing updates - and now it is existing in a half-broken state.
Time to actually install HAOS on that thing, or virtualize the installation completely.

It blows my mind that for £7 I can have a tiny computer with 5Ghz WiFi and program it to make hardware gadgets.

Huh. Did anyone see something like this before? I didn’t trigger any logins at that time, and definitely not from localhost and with that user agent. Is this what it looks like if a scraper found my #HomeAssistant Nabu casa cloud URL, or what’s going on here?

Is there no way to get TTS to play on my HomePod from Home Assistant if I don't use https with HA?
I have some mobile notifications set up, but it'd be really useful if I could get audibly screamed at if like I'm still awake at 11pm and stuff.

#IKEA is replacing all #ZigBee based Smart Home devices by #Matter based ones. This might be the way to go for the future but it's forcing me to add yet another network to my #homeassistant just because I was too late to still get the perfectly fine ZigBee variant. 🫤
BTW: The new Matter devices come with a legacy ZigBee mode, but it only provides very basic functionality. The Grillplats switch does not provide power metering data over ZigBee.
