I picked my first 3D printer I ever bought based on the desire to print shoes that would fit my feet. (I never actually tried to 3D print shoes in the end.) Being able to 3D print a chair as one single print would be really cool.

I'm passing this survey about names for the co-op to some friends... and every time they face a non-English sounding name... they all say this same phrase (with small variations):
> It doesn't sound **international** enough / at all.
Honestly... I find it quite sad. I know ultimately it doesn't matter what I think personally, we still need a good & catchy name (it's not in our hands to make people think differently)...
Anyway, I believe UK & American #imperialism have fucked our brains and removed so much creativity & freedom from our minds...
Note: this issue is disconnected from the specific names of our survey. I've seen it too with names of very successful projects (but unknown to the people I was talking to); for example with "Kubernetes".

Question for the ether: I have an *old* WordPress site backed up. Not sure on exact version, but from 2009. I have all of the files, but no database (or at least no .SQL export file; I may have the literal files of the db, not sure).

I need a recommendation for a new iPhone 16 case. The Apple Silicone case which I bought, and that I thought would last a decent wedge of time, only lasted 11 months before snapping at the USBC port.
The Apple Genius said that it wasn't covered by warranty, which didn't really impress me as I'm very careful with my phone. The Silicone is also peeling at the bottom.

This is weird...
Just went to download something from the Apple site on my Sequoia MBPM4P. Safari 26.0.1 alerts me with the usual "allow downloads" dialog, but instead of just asking about the site I'm actually downloading from, it includes the OTHER TAB that just happens to be open in the same window. No way to only approve the site I'm actually d/ling from.
No harm *in this case* but it sure smells like a bug.

#NIST have issued updated #password guidelines for businesses. Interestingly they now say that requiring special characters is no longer a recommendation, but longer passwords / passphrases (using spaces) is a better idea.

After much logging and inspecting and reconfiguring you know what worked? (It's what always works!). Turning it off and on…
It's just a matter of turning the *right* thing off and on.
In this case, it was a matter of rebooting the webcam itself, which I really should have known because it has been unreliable at accepting new settings without a full reboot in the past. Weird that it was making the connection to NGINX but not actually sending data on that connection. The reboot of the webcam appears to have forced the data to be sent to the new proper docker address and on to Youtube.
Unfortunately I tried changing the stream key for Youtube before trying the webcam reboot which creates a new youtube URL, so I'll have to update my YouTube embed codes but oh well, it is worth having success with docker!
I feel much more comfortable working with docker now and understand the build/run workflow more now so I can start customizing my Dockerfile and be confident that I’m not going to miss anything.
Now I should be able to redirect all of my streams off of #footiMac and onto the slightly newer #imac2014 OR... most importantly, anywhere I have this docker container!

I use Google Photos on my Android phone, but this forces my iPhone friends to upload all their contacts to Google Photos which is a little icky. So I don't think that readability is an issue in liquid glass? I think as part of a dynamic system it's always pretty much OK.
What I'm less sure of is that there are a lot of places where the UI used to disappear in various apps and now there's always something floating on the screen, that's moving in the corner of your eye as you scroll…

A multilingual website I've been building for a while went live a few days ago. It's a pretty simple site from user perspective but somewhat challenging to build, esp. due to data org to ease site gen, and me learning some of the tech as I build the site.
Many fixes and features are pending, but I'm happy with the outcome and the initial reception. I'm also humbled by the opportunity to work with and learn from a great scholar in the subject matter, and pleased to be able to use my time and knowledge for a worthy cause. 🙇‍♂️

I'm yet to take it out with me as I need to be at my desk today, but wow... it's basically a smol laptop now.
