The cat litter experiment was successful. I covered the shoes in it for the night*, took them out the next day and the stench was gone. I wasn't able to get it out by washing and scrubbing multiple times.
* For the record, I've used a fresh bag of cat litter.
Cat litter has a few advantages over, say, baking soda: it's easily available in large quantities, it's easy to pour out afterwards, and you can put it in the litter box afterwards.

Can’t fall off if you were never on #lifehack

A new #LifeHack just dropped.
I carry a "medicine organizer" with four compartments where I keep four portions of glucose. The problem is, I never remember which ones I took and refilled recently (I don't need it often), so I don't know which ones are the oldest.
Today I've figured out to shift everything left while refilling, so the oldest always are in the first compartment.
You don't need to congratulate my on the speed of my brain.
