I have a PS4 that I hadn't used in a long time. Today I turned it back on to play for a while and... Nope! 10 minutes to update the system and almost an hour to update the game I wanted to play.
Modern gaming is not for me. I'm too old for this shit.

It's so funny how normies talk about Linux nowadays. On a gaming podcast about the Steam Machine someone said off-handely: “drivers aren't a problem under Linux; they all come with the kernel”
Not even a "not a problem anymore". How the times have changed.

You call it "retro gaming"
I call it "just taking me 25 years to finish Halo"

I visited Vintage Gamer in Birmingham with Gaming Rarities. Picked up a few good bits for the collection. Short here: #RetroGaming

Destiny 2 is a fun game when you play it all the time. When you don’t, it usually feels like a kick in the teeth coming back. It is crazy how casual-hostile the game is. I kind of suspect that was a large part of the reason why it was on a steady decline. People only have so many teeth. #gaming #Destiny2

Hrmm, I think there might be a _slight_ memory leak in this game's mod loader. Just a guess though...

Aw yeah, nothing like a bit of overkill playing _Slay the Spire 2_...did have to add a custom profile to get the button mappings just the way I wanted them though.

For my work machine at home I have been dual monitor for over a year. This year work upgraded us to dual monitors. It makes my work easier. Rather than tabbing between apps I organize them across monitors to make my work easier.

While testing around with SteamOS off the Live Installer (on a decade old standard size SD card and similarly "ancient" USB adapter) was fun and all, and quite snappy despite the media used.. You can definitely tell it's not ready for Prime Time in the "Gaming PC" space, yet. Very much built for bespoke devices like handhelds and the new Machine/micro PCs like that.
Hence, I fresh installed a clean image of Garuda, my OS of choice the last 3 years. (I also run M…

After 2 hours I got Borderlands 4 playing from my Linux box to my TV. Mostly. I still haven't tried to make HDR work and there's lots of little stutters. But at least the sound isn't delayed 2 seconds anymore.
Linux gaming mostly works but there's still rough edges.

Wrt to the 1Password fiasco: if you’re using Apple stuff, Apple’s password manager works great across many apps. Unless you have very specific needs (like managing passwords for employees) you probably don’t need a paid-for password manager.
(It also works on Windows if you have e.g. a gaming PC!)
⚠️ How to use this post:
1. This isn’t an invite to rant about Apple
2. Yes, I know it doesn’t work on Linux
3. Do not recommend other ethically indefensible software

RE: mastodon.social/@philipmolloy/
Absolutely this! From the post:
> Linux users today run high-end workstations, gaming rigs, modern laptops and dedicated media and audio systems. We buy expensive hardware, pay for premium services and care about UX, integration and software that actually takes advantage of the machines we're running it on.
Absolutely this. It's why I got a @… Lemur Pro (10). It works so well and runs for many hours.
And yes, software keeps improving, thanks to multiple parties investing in it. 💝
