After finishing up my timeline I refresh and there are a dozen more posts. That's not sustainable for a healthy social media diet (for me - YMMV!). and so, once again, the 'solution' isn't in the distro or legacy, it is in the wiki on the internals of Evolution where I just incidentally learn it can be a flatpak or not, and thus there are TWO .local/share folders to wipe. So I delete all accts in Evo, empty trash just in case, exit, wipe those folders, go into Settings, delete the Google connection which shows as two identical so delete them both, reboot.
On boot, go straight to settings which shows none, add Google and I'm in, quick as a wink. I start #Evolution, and lo, there it is, my account fetching emails!
Now to figure that #mastodonel thing and why mastodon.plstore is so problematic.

There's a link to copy stuff to the clipboard and the stuff copied says "TypeError: can't access property "pending_requests_count", i.summary is undefined".
Most annoyingly, this happened while I was writing a post, which got lost.

And #HappyNewYear. I have a suggestion for a #NewYearsResolution2026 that I hope you can participate in. At the very least, please boost the crap out of the idea, steal it and use it as your own or promote the hashtag at every opportunity.
During a random conversation with @crispius a few days ago, we sparked an idea on how to get people off of toxic tech bro social media and onto #Mastodon. What if all Mastodonians agree to convert at least one person into a Mastodon user in 2026. This could include supporting them to make them an active and loyal user. Help them find accounts to follow, finding their personal community, building relationships with followers, etc. It's a grassroots strategy for getting people to move to this platform.
We could use the hashtag #BringAFriendToMastodon to share ideas, strategies, or success. Perhaps ask your admin for help spreading the idea (shout out to @…). Maybe @… can assist in promoting this as well.

It’s about this time of year I like to check my backups and download my archives.
One archive I download is the archive of my Mastodon posts. Pretty much the only one now I’ve left the corporate web really.
I also like to copy the contents of my public fediverse posts into my own diary within my vimwiki.
Keep it all in one place for easy and local search.
Here’s the script I use, it’s very short and just copies the content of every post in the archive into a new diary entry in the vimwiki diary.
If it finds something already there, it appends.
It checks if it’s already written this post into the diary to avoid duplicating it when you run it over and every again every month or year or whatever.
Paste it into a new text-file called toVimWiki.php, download and unzip your mastodon archive, and run the script with php, passing it the path to the archive’s outbox.json and the root diary directory.
My diary is honestly mostly just public posts these days. Ain’t much in it I won’t blab about on the internet for likes and lols.

Latest Pixelfed runs on an rpi5, latest Mastodon clients all get the same result: my acct on jazztodon always sees full photos in a mastodon client as do various Pixelfed clients, but reading the same post from mstdn.ca photos are often munged and no means to re-fetch.
