#mosstodon Well, not actually moss. It's a slime mould. Fuligo septica I think.

A bright yellow organic blob a few centimeters across clings to a rotten piece of wood. Close up it has a fuzzy, almost fractal structure, but no large-scale organisation beyond "blob". A few threads of the same stuff can be seen nearby on the wood, looking dried out.
