The reds & browns are chert and radiolarite, key aspects of the larger Feuerspitze group this mountain is part of...

Not quite Canadian Shield, but close... and at much higher elevation (~2300m)

A tundra-like scene of (a section of) some enormous sloped boulders, smoothed and scraped off by thousands of years of glacial movement, now slowly overgrown by beautiful dry, orange grasses and small trees (larches), which are also slowly taking on their autumn colors. The rocks have a pinkish brown color with yellow/green lichens growing in some regions. The background is a uniform green-gray color, i.e. the color of the glacier lake with its milky water and some very, very faint reflections.

Ahw I so want to go there again. That day I didn't even want to go that far - but the weather and all was just great so I went on to the next summit.
I just knew that I should hurry to get back before the sun moved too far. Becasue - well - autumn sun is nicely warm - but

Taking The Red Carpet Path.
(Not often that I find myself in a place exuding such intense natural positive/friendly energy [and beautiful scents]...)

A small rocky path leading through an open alpine landscape with dense low-growth vegetation (mainly dried heather, blueberry bushes with red leaves). Further on, the path leads through a small section of young Swiss pine forest, a snowcapped mountain peak in the distance. Sunny day with clear blue sky.

Belated #MountainMonday ... Ever been in a place which made you feel you're maybe walking in dream (and it's not a nightmare)? This picture absolutely summarizes why I love the mountains the most in October...
(Had to de-saturate the colors because of polarization filter used, otherwise only slightly cropped and minutely raised shadows)

A wide and stunning mountain landscape with a small path leading through a dense colorful low-growth alpine vegetation (heather, bushes, blueberries, mosses) in different shades of browns, oranges, greens & reds. Gray rocks interspersed on the mountain slope which is leading down into a narrow canyon on the left-hand side. Large mountain peaks with a dusting of snow in the background. Pale blue sky with streaky clouds.
