The House Appropriations Committee approved the FY2026 Commerce-Justice-Science (CJS) bill last evening including funding for #NASA and keeps the agency at roughly the same level as FY2025, $24.8 billion: spacepolicyonline.com/news/hou - the House committee has a stronger emphasis on human exploration than its Senate counterpart, but the agency fares much better on both sides of Capitol Hill than it did in the president’s request.

Federal funding is about to run out for 19 active #NASA space missions studying Earth's climate, exploring the Solar System, and probing mysteries of the Universe: arstechnica.com/space/2025/09/ - this year's budget expires at the end of this month, and Congress must act before October 1 to avert a government shutdown; if Congress passes a budget before then, it will most likely be in the form of a continuing resolution, an extension of this year's funding levels into the first few weeks or months of fiscal year 2026.

The super-successful #Juno #Jupiter orbiter may already be switched off, but #NASA won't say: space.com/space-exploration/mi - the agency has extended Juno's mission multiple times, most recently in 2021, guaranteeing operations through Sept. 30, 2025; that date has now passed, and with the U.S. government shut down, there is no word yet on whether Juno will come out alive on the other side.
